In my last article, I stated that I would continue with a step-by-step synopsis of how to create a fantastic lawn or at least make the best of what you have to work with. But, as the season progresses, so do our priorities. It is time to move on from lawns to accessories and things that make your space your place. School will be finished soon and this means entertaining the kids. Here is an idea that will combine landscaping with laughter:
Lets get some concrete and some fun for conventionally shaped moulds
- Pour some pre mixed concrete into a wheelbarrow or tub for mixing.
- Shovel underneath the concrete and fold it over distributing moisture.
- Add a bit of water and mix until all the concrete achieves a consistency that is neither dry nor soupy.
- When the concrete is ready, pour it into the moulds you have chosen for your stepping-stones. Smooth it out as you go to remove air bubbles.
It's fun time! - In approximately 45 minutes you can press decorative items of your choice into your stepping-stones. Marbles, gems, coloured rock, and little handprints are to name just a few.
- Allow three days to dry.
- Now it's time to remove the stepping-stones from their moulds. Carefully turn the moulds upside down and lightly tap.
- I would strongly suggest allowing your new stones to cure for a week before using them.
Enjoy!
